Airport radio-locator (ASR12) was installed in eastern part of Georgia by Northrop Grumman Company, which is connected with second observing radar (MSSR). Second radio-locator was installed in western part of Georgia (Senaki) that is also produced by Northrop Grumman Company. . Coverage radius of the locator is 470km that enables double coverage on the controllable territory. Georgian air traffic control center is located in Tbilisi and it is equipped with airspace control system “NG” (AMS2000) and air traffic control communication and image equipment.
Besides the above mentioned “Sakaeronavigatsia” Ltd applies two additional radio-locators produced by USSR and therefore it adheres to the standard of double radio-locator coverage for air corridor. The negotiations with French company THALES are coming to the end and the contract is signed concerning the purchase of second radar to be installed near Poti. Currently the contract in the correction stage in order to be in compliance with the interest of “Sakaeronavigatsia” Ltd
